The countdown is on!
Only one month left until tip-off at the great Göteborg Basketball Festival which one of the biggest in Europe. 2016 is already a record year with an all-time high of 559 teams ready to hit the court. Former General of the tournament, Staffan Lindström, is excited about the progress.
- The tournament gets better and better each year. It is much more of a show now then what it was a few years ago, Staffan Lindström says.

The tournament that starts May 5th offers basketball competition for all ages starting with Easy Basketball to the grownup series 20+ with a lot of national team players both from Sweden and other countries. - We can offer so much more now and it is great, Lindström says, it is going to be fun with the All-star event also. Spectacular dunks The Dunk Elite Tour returns, including Gothenburg in their world tour that also travels to the big cities, Toronto and London. Last year you could see the group dunk over cars and rumour has it that they will have an even better competition this year.
Staffan Lindström believes that the secret behind the growth is the good organization behind the tournament. - In reality we have not done that much marketing and advertising, says Lindström, but I believe when something is truly great it spreads anyway. Contributing volunteers The former tournament general gives a lot of credit to all the volunteers. - I think that we counted the number of people and hours that contributed a couple a years ago. The result we got was around a million volunteer hours. That is really cool. I am excited about this year, Lindström says.
